In accordance with its role as a parent company, FBCL has strengthened its governance and management practices. As a result of the measures taken internally, FBCL is not only in a position to appropriately carry out its oversight role with its existing subsidiaries but also to account for a possible extension of this role.
Business Relationship with Industry Stakeholders
An implementation plan was completed and circulated by FBCL to create a “Capital Corridor” between Ottawa and Washington D.C. in order to establish an international trade passage between the two countries. FBCL organized a highly successful “Capital Corridor Summit” in October 2006, with high-level participation from Canadian and U.S. government officials, shippers, suppliers and other stakeholders. In addition, both FBCL and TIBA have agreed to continue to contribute to funding for the trade corridor concept for the next two years.
